I haven't posted any fun ESPN SportsNation polls lately, so here's a good one.
Last time I checked, 4+9=13, not 12. I answered "It's just 12 games," but if they had had their maths correct, I probably would have chosen "Very significant" for a couple reasons.
1) The Red Sox are my least favorite baseball team after the Phillies.
2) 13 games is over 8% of the season, and as such is a remarkably useful metric of how well a team will perform for the rest of the season, unless that team is the Phillies, in which case the inverse of the record through 13 games is the appropriate metric (especially this season - come on now, the Nats, the Astros, and the Nats again? Talk about an easy schedule - it's like playing AA teams.)
3) David Ortiz doped (edit: see this tweet by Bill Simmons. I snorted out loud when I read it) and Kevin Youkilis is a dick.
4) Red is the color of Cornell, and they _suck_.
I'll stop there. Also of note, another question was "Are the Red Sox (4-9) done?" I assume this was asking if the Red Sox were un-dynastyed, but the ambiguity could be exploited to come up with some funnies. But I'm too worn out as it is - I mean, it takes like, twice as long on a PC to deal with that screenshot than it does on a Mac.
Phwew.
PS: It should be noted that the Nationals (6-6) before yesterday's loss to the Brewers were over-.500 for the first time in TWO YEARS. WOOOOO!!! Also, the Pirates are 7-5 and in SECOND-PLACE in the NL Central. W. T. F. We have some good IM logs of Charlie ranting about the Reds, after they blew a 1-run lead in the bottom of the ninth to lose to the Pirates. Classic stuff.
PPS: Simon still sucks at fantasy baseball rofl.
